Wax has a "memory." Allow a burn phase of 3-4 hours at a time in order to establish a full melt pool (the point when wax becomes liquified edge to edge). This helps ensure an even burn throughout your candle's life. Always trim your wick to 1/4 inch prior to each use to eliminate soot buildup. If you notice any soot has developed on the rim of your vessel, allow your candle to cool before gently wiping the glass clean with a paper towel.

Our rigorously-tested wicks self-extinguish with about 1/4 inch of wax remaining. This is for safety reasons. Even so, it's recommended by the NCA to discontinue burning when there's 1/2 inch of unmelted wax remaining.

Plant-based wax is sensitive to a change in temperature. Your candle may have a textured or rustic-appearing surface after the wax has solidified. This is due to the natural properties of 100% plant-based wax and completely normal (not to mention part of its charm, but admittedly we're partial). These natural properties are also why you may occasionally notice a cosmetic phenomenon known as a "wet spot," which is when the wax pulls away slightly from the vessel, creating a minute gap. This effect is most common during cooler weather and dissipates during the candle's burning cycle.
